Robert Pattinson (Jacob) plays a veterinary student, who meets and falls in love with Marlena (Reese Witherspoon),a star performer in a circus of a bygone era. They discover beauty amidst the world of the splendour and glory of the circus, and come together through their compassion for a special elephant,Tai. Against all odds, including the wrath of Marlenas charismatic but dangerous husband August (Christoph Waltz),Jacob saves Marlena from an unhappy life and they find lifelong love. After essaying the role of a vampire in Twilight,Robert Pattison will play a student who loses his parents and abandons his studies to join a travelling circus as a vet.
The buzz
* Water For Elephants, set in the post depression era, depicts the abysmal living standards of the members of a circus group
* Reese Witherspoon plays the female lead,Marlena,a sultry circus performer. Its a stark contrast to her earlier cute onscreen image in Sweet Home Alabama and the Legally Blonde series.
* Robert Pattinson has surrendered his Twilight fangs for a sun-tanned look in the film.
