Waterlogging,traffic snarls as rains continue

According to civic officials,there were some complaints of water logging in the suburbs,especially Andheri,Kurla,Ghatkopar and Vikhroli. The city had received an average rainfall of close to 130 mm in just eight hours between 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.

The civic official also said that there were some water logging complaints from Milan Subway and areas near Vile Parle.

According to officials at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC),the sudden heavy showers on Saturday had led to a delay in pumping at Irla pumping station.

“The automatic pumping machine installed at the Irla pumping station failed yesterday as the water pressure was tremendous and the garbage got stuck to the screen of the pump. We are now using manual pump to pump out water from Irla pumping water,” said L S Vhatkar,Chief Engineer of Storm Water Drain department.
