After the heavy and incessant rains on Saturday which led to water-logging and traffic congestion across the city, minor showers continued to lash the city on Sunday.
While the suburban Santacruz weather station recorded a rainfall of 26 mm,the Colaba weather station recorded a rainfall of 12 mm.
According to the Indian Meteorological department (IMD), the next 24 hours will also see some spells of rain or showers across the city. The maxmum temperature recorded at the Colaba weather station was 26.2 ° C and at the suburban Santacruz weather station,it was 25.8 ° C.
According to civic officials, there were some complaints of water logging in the suburbs, especially Andheri,Kurla,Ghatkopar and Vikhroli. The city had received an average rainfall of close to 130 mm in just eight hours between 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.
The civic official also said that there were some water logging complaints from Milan Subway and areas near Vile Parle.
According to officials at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC),the sudden heavy showers on Saturday had led to a delay in pumping at Irla pumping station.
The automatic pumping machine installed at the Irla pumping station failed yesterday as the water pressure was tremendous and the garbage got stuck to the screen of the pump. We are now using manual pump to pump out water from Irla pumping water, said L S Vhatkar,Chief Engineer of Storm Water Drain department.
