Australia were on course for another win as Pakistan struggled at 103 for the loss of four second-innings wickets on the fourth day of the third Test on Sunday.

Ricky Ponting declared their second innings at 219 for five soon after Simon Katich hit his ninth Test ton, leaving Pakistan a target of 438. But the visitors lost both openers with only 29 on the board. Shane Watson then took two wickets to reduce them to 103/4 at close.

Katich shared a stand of 191 with Ponting (89) on a batting track,as the hosts began the day on 59/1,knowing a win would bring them close to a record-equalling 12th successive Test victory. Ponting survived a caught-behind decision off Mohammad Aamer on referral on 62,but was dismissed 11 short of becoming only the seventh batsman to hit a 100 and a double 100 in the same Test.
