A journalist from a private news channel deposed in the special sessions court conducting the 26/11 trial on Thursday and identified the voices in the conversation recorded between the terrorists and her. The journalist received a call from the two terrorists holed up at Chabad centre in Nariman House on November 26 last year demanding to air their anti-government message live on the channel.
The telephone intercepts reveal how the terrorists, after getting a crash course in media interaction over the phone from their handlers in Pakistan, had called the news channel. The intercepts also reveal how the terrorists kept insisting that they were from Hyderabad instead of Pakistan.
At one instance during the conversation, the terrorist Imran Babar tells the journalist that the Indian government had failed to help Muslims in the country and forced them to take up arms to fight its inappropriate policies.
Imran: Hum apne bagwa sarkar ko batana chahtein hai.. (We want to show our government)
Journalist: Kya? (What)
Imran: Unhone humareko attangwadi banaya hai, kaisa policy banate hai idhar hukumat. Udhar prashashan kaise karta hai uska opposite karta hai. Unhone paatshala ke bajayein, future sochne ke bajayein aatangwadi bana diya. (They have made us terrorist. What policy does this government formulates. There the administration does totally opposite. Instead of sending us to schools or thinking of the future, they have turned us into terrorist).
Imran: Bata do aap apni sarkar ko hum shanti dikha rahein hai..yeh dekh rahein hai humari bagwa sarkar..yeh samjho trailer hai aaj..(Tell your government that we are showing them the path of peace. The government should take note of this..it’s is just a trailer)
