We will take medical advice on Tremlett before match: Strauss

All-rounder Tim Bresnan, left out for the first test,is standing by to replace Tremlett.

Andrew Strauss, captain of the England cricket team, has said medical advice would be taken on fast bowler Chris Tremlett before deciding on his inclusion in the squad for the second test match to be played at Chris Tremlett.

“Yeah,I think you always got a way with these things here obviously a short turn around between the test matches. We are not going to pick someone in the side unless he is 100 percent fit and able to get through five days so obviously we will take medical advice on that, and he (Chris Tremlett) seems very confident,” said Strauss.

England paceman Chris Tremlett is a fitness doubt for the second test, which starts on Friday (July 29) while opponents India will be without their number one swing bowler Zaheer Khan.

Tremlett bowled briefly in practice on Thursday morning before pulling out of the session with a hamstring problem. He then managed a handful of deliveries off one stride on his return before leaving again.

All-rounder Tim Bresnan, left out for the first test,is standing by to replace Tremlett.

England mauled India by 196 runs in the first Test last week but Strauss said that going by the past records, the visiting team is expected to make a strong comeback at their lucky ground,Trent Bridge.

“Absolutely I remember last time we just narrowly missed out winning at Lord’s and then got surprised pretty early on that second test match and never recovered from that. We are not going to be repeating those mistakes as I said we are expecting Indians to come back strong. We gonna be ready for it and hopefully able to withstand that,” added Strauss.

Praising the wicket at the Trent Bridge ground, the English skipper said that it would help the bowlers in taking wickets in quick succession.

“I think it is a fantastic cricket ground and the wicket usually is a very good wicket for test cricket as there are lot of runs in it. The bowlers bowl well, they even get rewards as well. So,we are expecting,I think the weather is meant to be good. There should be full house here and just the sort of the atmosphere you wanna play a game in,” added Strauss.

Irrespective of a 1-0 lead,Strauss said England’s key to success in the four-Test series would be the form of his bowlers to keep a check on the famed Indian batting line up.

The underlying prize from the four-match Test series is the battle for number one status in the world rankings. Number three England need to win by at least two Tests to leapfrog South Africa and topple top-ranked India.
