Meera Kanwaria, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Northwest Delhi candidate, is busy attending every marriage in the constituency she gets an invite for.
On Tuesday evening, she attended three back-to-back weddings in the Narela area. She was invited by some party workers and residents.
Starting her day with yoga, a small pooja and then breakfast, Kanwaria meets party workers to decide on counting agents and on areas she could not go to during her campaign and should visit now.
Candidates have been receiving a lot of invites from residents in the area since it is marriage season, and everyone wants political leaders to attend.
Senior party workers, councillors and MLAs from the area have been deliberating on counting agents with counting day approaching fast. “We are working on it and I keep a tab on what’s happening by meeting them at my house and their places and offices as well,” she says.
Along with all the election-related work, Kanwaria likes to keep up with her reading. She does not watch TV and the only technology she uses these days is her mobile phone.
Kanwaria has been receiving a lot of Rajasthani people these days. “I belong to Rajasthan and since they know that now I am not that busy, they come and visit. I love to talk to them and feel so happy when they give me their best wishes. I can see that I have made them proud,” she says
