Welch Allyn, the $700 million US-based leading manufacturer of frontline diagnostic products and complete range of digital and connected solutions, has decided to consolidate its presence in India by bring all distribution and marketing channels under a single entity.
Sensing huge market for its entry-level healthcare products in India, the company has tied up with Garuda Med Equipments to sell its products in India and introduced three new products to start with.
The company, which tied up with BPL Healthcare in 2009 to introduce the 'e-clinic project' concept in India, said that the concept is still on and is working with the latter on how to take up and realise the concept in a big way.
"Though we have presence in India over last 30 years through different channels, we could not achieve the real goal due to lack of market and required support service network. We have now decided to consolidate all our distribution and marketing channels under one entity and towards this we have entered into a tie up with Garuda Med Equipments to sell our products going forward," Con Hickey, senior vice-president (Asia Pacific) Welch Allyn, said.
"While there have been a few players (multinationals) in India with a clear cut focus on high-end products. We decide to target the primary healthcare centres, smaller hospitals and medical practitioners to market our products in a big way," he said.
Francis Sim, director (regional sales), Welch Allyn Singapore, said, "Our tie up with BPL Healthcare is still on."
