Amitabh Bachchan said the ‘new generation’ team is a team that has removed deprecating cynicism.

‘Hit the damn ball out of the stadium’!! This was how Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan applauded the Indian cricket team for its ‘convincing’ series win against Australia while advising the triumphant players to keep the momentum going.

Writing in his blog, Bachchan said the ‘new generation’ team is a team that has removed deprecating cynicism from the hearts and minds of its countrymen.

"This is a new India ready to fly," the actor said while paying kudos to the team which bagged the series 2-0 after winning the Nagpur Test on Monday.

"Well done Team India. You have made all of us so proud. Just keep going this way. Hit the damn ball out of the stadium!!," he said.

Bachchan went on to say "This is a new generation team. A team with talent and aggression and attitude. It is not meek and submissive. It is strong and fearless. It is a team that welcomes a challenge. A team that has the guts to take one on the chin and give two back. It is a team that has removed deprecating cynicism of it from the hearts and minds of its countrymen."

The Shehenshah of the Indian cinema said, "That we outplayed the opponents on the field was wonderful to witness, but what was really wonderful to watch was the spirit of the team."

Touching on other cricket issues, Bachchan appeared to be annoyed with Indian commentators in the commentary box.

"Dhoni and his merry band of brothers had made India proud again," Bachchan said, adding ‘What an achievement and what a victory’.

    ... contd.

CricketBy: jigna | 16-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Let them enjoy their triumphs, why do you try to stay in the wrong limelight. They have done India proud so what was the need for Amitabh to needle in cricket. We would appreciate if cricketers can hog this moment sans you.
Govi ji GROW UP.By: AB | 12-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Cricketers do enjoy the victory, but country is also the part of it. Cricketers get money and endorsements, people just get the piece of glory.Bachchan told the hypocrisy of India's media and that is the truth. There is hardly any coverage of the event on any national or international platform. I get 2 Indian papers in US.Everyone has right to evaluate and participate. Remember, Bachchan pays taxes more than you. (Don't spray dirt of a typical Indian mentality on net."The POLITICS")
CricketBy: govi | 12-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Why was Amitabh needed to emphasize the Indian cricket victory? He never stops to get limelight of any situation. Let them(cricketers) enjoy their victory without your interruption. You are something, you hate media but never hesitate to get mileage of any situation. Look how demented and corrupt he is, it can be well said through his association with politicians(Amar singh the womanizer just like his friend) . Ha ha I like the word darinda .Right Amitabh don't feign ignorance. Forgot so fast your arms deal fiasco. You do have fans like Mulayam/Lalu.
