Writing in his blog, Bachchan said the ‘new generation’ team is a team that has removed deprecating cynicism from the hearts and minds of its countrymen.
"This is a new India ready to fly," the actor said while paying kudos to the team which bagged the series 2-0 after winning the Nagpur Test on Monday.
"Well done Team India. You have made all of us so proud. Just keep going this way. Hit the damn ball out of the stadium!!," he said.
Bachchan went on to say "This is a new generation team. A team with talent and aggression and attitude. It is not meek and submissive. It is strong and fearless. It is a team that welcomes a challenge. A team that has the guts to take one on the chin and give two back. It is a team that has removed deprecating cynicism of it from the hearts and minds of its countrymen."
The Shehenshah of the Indian cinema said, "That we outplayed the opponents on the field was wonderful to witness, but what was really wonderful to watch was the spirit of the team."
Touching on other cricket issues, Bachchan appeared to be annoyed with Indian commentators in the commentary box.
"Dhoni and his merry band of brothers had made India proud again," Bachchan said, adding ‘What an achievement and what a victory’.
Bachchan said he always maintained that the energy and attitude of a nation can always be determined by that one charismatic leader--He or she could be a politician, an economic head or a sportsman/woman.
"A politician or economic head could and does take time to register and be of effect, but the sports arena sprouts instantly into immediate glory and recognition. The heroes from this cricket stadium need the adulation and respect and care above all else," he said.
Elaborating on how he felt ‘extremely disturbing’ about Indian commentators, Bachchan said " What I often seen with great despair and disgust is our most subservient and almost servile attitude. Is it the handicap of language? Of temperament? What?"
The star prefaced his observations about them saying he was making it without ‘political correctness’.
"Watch some of the British and American TV. Watch how they glorify a victory and how beautifully cover a defeat. These are subtle techniques that are used by nations to project themselves in good light. We do the opposite."
