
Bachchan said he always maintained that the energy and attitude of a nation can always be determined by that one charismatic leader--He or she could be a politician, an economic head or a sportsman/woman.
"A politician or economic head could and does take time to register and be of effect, but the sports arena sprouts instantly into immediate glory and recognition. The heroes from this cricket stadium need the adulation and respect and care above all else," he said.
Elaborating on how he felt ‘extremely disturbing’ about Indian commentators, Bachchan said " What I often seen with great despair and disgust is our most subservient and almost servile attitude. Is it the handicap of language? Of temperament? What?"
The star prefaced his observations about them saying he was making it without ‘political correctness’.
"Watch some of the British and American TV. Watch how they glorify a victory and how beautifully cover a defeat. These are subtle techniques that are used by nations to project themselves in good light. We do the opposite."
