“We are hoping to see more rain with lesser density in the next two days,” said an official from the meteorological department. On Thursday, the total rain recorded was 19.1 mm till 5.30 pm.

The official said that on an average,Delhi sees five days of rain (if it is above 2.5 cms per day) and it has already rained for three days and so the month has been much better than the last few years.

For Delhi and the neighbouring areas, which had seen scanty rainfall this season, this new phase is expected to lessen the deficiency.

But the continuous rain has dampened some spirits. The waterlogging, muddy streets and mile-long traffic jams have not found favour with officegoers.

One of the others out of love with the wet spell was Surinder,a newspaper boy who could not deliver his papers this morning. “I was afraid that the papers will get wet and I had to leave them lying in my store,” said the resident of Mukherjee Nagar. “Tomorrow I will have to hear scathing comments from my customers.”
