Rainfall over the past two days has led to a dip in city temperatures with day temperature on Saturday being recorded at 6 degrees C below normal. The city also experienced 9.3 mm of rainfall. The maximum temperature was recorded at 17 degrees C, while the minimum temperature was 12.6 degrees C.
This has been the wettest February in the last six years. It was in 2007 that 164.7 mm rainfall was received in the month of February.
During the month of February this year, rainfall has been experienced over several days. After one spell of rainfall was over, the temperature had started rising and had touched 25 degrees C. Following rainfall over the last two days, the day temperature has reduced again.
The Met Department has predicted rainfall over the next 24 hours following which the weather would clear up. In fact rain is being experienced throughout the region leading to the temperature at most of the places being recorded as below normal. The maximum humidity in Chandigarh was recorded as 86 per cent and minimum as 44 per cent.
