Usually a restricted viewing area,Wednesday saw a special visitor to the Delhi-Saurashtra Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match. Dressed smartly in T-shirt and jeans,newly-appointed Kolkata Knight Rider coach Dav Whatmore walked in during the second session of play to meet Vijay Dahiya, the Knight Riders assistant coach who is presently coaching the Delhi Ranji team.

Settling down in one corner of the ground,Whatmore was involved in serious discussions with Dahiya on their future course of action as plenty of faces on the field kept pleading for their attention. “It was just another chat and we discussed how to go about things in the coming season. Also Dav was keen to have a look at a couple of boys who are already signed by us —- fast bowler Balakrishna Jadeja and batsman Cheteshwar Pujara. Most importantly,we are still keeping our eyes open and are looking for fresh talent who could fit into our scheme of things. Dav will be at the ground again tomorrow,” Dahiya told Sportline.

Meanwhile Whatmore pointed out that while he is hopeful that the boys will do well in IPL III,a lot depends on whether fortune is with the team.

“I don’t want to look back at figures of previous instances. Nevertheless,I have spoken to Shah Rukh Khan on the squad and I’m sure we would be able to build up a strong combination. Having said that,we also need fortune on our side,” he added.
