Last week, the Akali Dal’s Charanjit Singh Atwal, Deputy Speaker in the Lok Sabha and head of the forum of SC/ST Parliamentarians, organised a conference on “Empowerment of Dalits and Minorities through Elementary Education”. The do had an impressive attendance of the Capital’s Who’s Who: Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, L K Advani, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Arjun Singh, Ram Vilas Paswan, Meira Kumar apart from chief ministers, MPs and MLAs. With the HRD Ministry footing the Rs 20-lakh bill for the two-day extravaganza, wonder what Arjun Singh is aspiring to. Is Maya listening?
