A day after he described politics as "filth", Anna Hazare Monday said he was ready to campaign for his former team member Arvind Kejriwal if the latter decides to fight elections.
"If Arvind fights elections, I will campaign for him because he has made many sacrifices for the country... I will be particularly happy if he contests against Kapil Sibal from Chandni Chowk," said Hazare.
The change in stand came after Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia met Hazare on the eve of a formal announcement of their political party. "There is no fight between us. If we have chosen to be a democracy, how can we fault somebody for wanting to fight polls? I have decided not to walk that road but I have not forbidden anybody from doing so," he said.
His statement comes after 10 days of acrimony over blogs and interviews, in which Hazare indicated Kejriwal was responsible for the split of Team Anna. Kejriwal claimed it was Hazare who had first floated the idea of a party and then backtracked without explanation.
Hazare said he would not campaign for all candidates of Kejriwal's party. "I'll campaign only for those about whom I have no doubts," he said.
"Our cooperation will continue as will the communication between us. There is no fight," said Kejriwal.
