Will challenge ‘ridiculous’ conviction: PUCL

The People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) has decided to challenge the legality of the court order.

The People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) has decided to challenge the legality of the court order handing down life imprisonment to Dr Binayak Sen. Terming the judgment as “ridiculous and unacceptable”,Justice (retired) Rajinder Sachar has said the PUCL will definitely challenge it. Asked if he apprehended a government ban on the PUCL for supporting Sen,who is also the organisation’s national vice-president,the former judge said he wasn’t bothered about such a prospect. The PUCL in its memorandum to the President of India has requested her “to undo the damage done to the reputation of the judiciary through the court’s flawed judgment”.
