  • Questioning his removal from the post of the Chief Minister two months back, BC Khanduri has fired a salvo at the party leadership. It has also put the BJP unit in the state into a spin.

Khanduri has been unhappy over the party high command’s decision to replace him with Dr Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank despite the fact that he enjoyed the support of majority of Uttarakhand legislators. However, he has not gone public with his resentment.

“I will not discuss party affairs publicly,” he said in Dehradun on Wednesday while adding, “I would be raising these issues at the appropriate party forums.” However, he did not deny writing a letter to his party chief.

By writing a letter to BJP President Rajnath Singh, he has joined he other senior party leaders like Yashwant Sinha, Jaswant Singh and Arun Shourie in questioning the manner his party has reacted to the loss in the Lok Sabha elections.

He had told The Indian Express a few days back, “I am sad at the developments in the party. After the Lok Sabha elections there has been a certain reaction that should not have been there. Getting lesser number of seats than expected and I would not call it losing the elections, has upset us more than it should have. I hope things will improve and the party would retain its old glory.”

He has reportedly alleged that despite collective responsibility of the party for the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, he was singled out and made scapegoat.

BJP in disarrayBy: somesh ponmani | 26-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward For sure, it is going to take a very long time for BJP to get its act together. The infighting among party members that too, top echelons, is costing the party dear. In all the melee, no single leader has emerged who can hold the reins of the party together. Only time will tell how the marrow unfolds for BJP.
Develpments in BJP - Cause of ConcernBy: R Varadarajan | 26-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward It is unfortunate that the Party is slowly drifting away from its strenghts for the Single Reason " Unprepared to accept harsh realities". The entire electoral team failed maily because of their wishy washy statements and approach. The statement of Varun Gandhi, Suggestion of Mr Modi as next PM, Barrage personalattack on an honest Prime Minister day in and day out and then sulking and complaining when he returned the compliments, Grant of 1.00 lakh for female child - but attacking girls in Karnatika with their hench men so on and so forth. The Indian today wants a Corruption Free Trannparent Goverment aiming at development and Progress and are not interested in buying the BJP's divisive politics. Unfortunately they had not realised these. Only now there is a sudden softening of stand on Mr Jinnah with Nehru Bashing in compliment from RSS - just to gain sypathy from Muslim voters and BJP will adopt the same right away

BJP ship is driftingBy: col n mahajan | 26-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward BJP ship is driftingThere seems to be comedy of errors in BJP....What’s suddenly happened to most regimented party ...falling apart like a pack of card. During the very famous Chat show WALK THE TALK on NDTV....Arun Shourie with his anti BJP STANCE was in a "truths all, bare all" mood. He spared none and one after the other exposed so many buried truths. Difficult to digest, for Aam Aadmi, so swift after Jaswant Singh ji’s explosion only the other day...Hearing words like Humpty-Dumty, Kati Patang, Alice in Blunder land, Me Tarzan, was not only hilarious but must have been very thwarting for the Parivar, One can’t take Mr. Arun Shourie flippantly .He definitely means what he says…truth nothing else but the truth....he is the most esteemed, trusted, and straightforward of journalists cum politician with a proven track record...most of the educated lot of India will vouch for him and stand by him any time every time and so also for Jaswant Singh .
BJP will sink into insignificanceBy: garynath | 26-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward My dear friend, a recognised folk singer, was engaged by the local BJP candidate to accompany him on a tour of villages in Madhya Pradesh. The promise was that he would be paid handsomely after the election. Well, the aspiring member lost the election and my poor friend (in his seventies and certainly not wealthy) who worked so hard attending and singing well into the night on countless occasions was issued with nothing. Not one paisa was given to him... and worse than that, no explanation was offered. If this is how they run their affairs then they have no hope of regaining credibility. The people are aware of such things and they vote accordingly.
