Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, who has failed to appear before the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the money laundering case against him, said on Saturday that he would be available for questioning only after the Assembly polls.

"The summons by the ED were delivered at my Ranchi residence only on November 18, a day before the appearance when I was busy campaigning (for assembly polls) in Chaibasa," Koda said here when asked by reporters why he failed to appear before the agency on November 19.

Koda said he would be available only after the conclusion of Jharkhand state Assembly polls on December 18.

The former Jharkhand Chief Minister has put up six candidates, including his wife Gita on behalf on Jharkhand Navanirman Morcha for the polls.

"Moreover, the ED wanted certain documents like passport, which I don't have as they must be with either the income tax authorities or vigilance department (both the agencies had raided Koda's residence). Unless I get them how can I show them," he said.

He refused to comment on his 'aides' Sanjay Choudhary and Binod Sinha, who are facing arrest warrants following the raid by Income Tax authorities on about 70 premises, including Koda's residences, and unearthed documents that allegedly pointed to hawala transactions and illegal investment to the tune of over Rs 2000 crore.

Will report to ED only after Jharkhand electionsBy: k p chandra | 22-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Media reports have created a hype in public mind and as usual the established theory ''public memory is short'' will work and people will forget the whole issue. The public can be at best assured that nothing will happen to either Koda or others who helped him continue as Chief Minister for 25 months and shared the loots with him. The investigating agencies are under the Govt of the day and will do nothing to embarass the leaders of this Govt or the political party who is ruling. So nothing is expected from the investigations, expect that it will attempt to divert the public attention thorugh prolonged investigation which will end up with inadequate evidence. And after that it will be turn of the Courts, who, as usual, will take atleast 2 to 3 decades to decide the case and by that time Koda and others may not be living.
RESOUNDING SLAPBy: A.K.SHARMA | 22-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Koda's defiance is,in fact, a resounding slap accross the face of Indian government. It is shameful that a convicted person is challanging the whole system and is being very conveniently allowed to get away with it due to pure political compulsions.Copngress is soft on Koda because o two reasons.Firstly it fears that if Koda spills the beans there might be trouble for many top politicians.Secondly the Congress also fears that it may need the 'services' of Koda after assembly elections for grabbing power in Jharkhand. It is all politics and the country can simply go to hell,Congress is not bothered.
Watch the CongressBy: Sanjiv | 22-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Strings of this puppet show are being pulled by the Congress 'High Command'. Koda will not be touched till the election results and then there will be a trade-off if he wins.
Criminal PoliticiansBy: Kalpathy Venkataraman | 22-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward How can a criminal who deliberately executed several hawala transactions worth few thousand crores muster courage to defy the orders of ED? This only goes to prove that Koda has not acted alone and he must be having the support of several accomplices in high places of power. If Koda goes down so will the accomplices.Such scenarios generally have two endings; the first being that the case will drag on for for several decades like Bofors and by then Koda would have died and the second being physical liquidation of Koda if the accomplices feel really threatened. Only the time will tell what the outcome will be. One thing should be clear to Chidambaram and Pillai that politicians like Koda are responsible for the creation of Maoist rebels. As long as the Indian system is not capable of dealing with such criminals, the Maoist movement will grow day by day and will paralyze our country. As long as traitors rule India, people like Koda are very happy and who cares about the security of India?
Is this democracy?By: kk | 21-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Is this democracy, freedom? Whose forefathers will be proud? Does anybody care for a working person who earns his / her bread with pride and labor? What kind of government, law enforcement agencies, judiciary and political culture we have? Will there be an end to this nonsense ever? And it is made to believe that " We the People can bring a change" - HOW? So called leaders have no responsibility it seems.
