Will use regional leaders to bring protesters to table: CM

With the increase in number of protests for various reasons in the state,Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday said the regional leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal will be mobilised to bring the protesting groups to the table.

With the increase in number of protests for various reasons in the state,Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday said the regional leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) will be mobilised to bring the protesting groups to the table. Badal who was here at Dehlon to inaugurate a community health centre,was replying to a query on the increasing number of agitations from the state-wide protests launched by teachers,unemployed linesmen,farmers unions against land acquisition to textile mill workers.

These protests are being fuelled by the opposition. I have always told these people to come to the table and the state government will accept their demands that are genuine and which are as per the law, the chief minister said. Meanwhile I will ask our regional leaders to talk to protesters and activists of their region and bring them to the table for talks, added Badal.

The chief minister also announced that the government will set up new district level hospitals in areas like NawanShehar,Taran Taran and Muktsar while hospitals in districts like Patiala and Faridkot will be strengthened. The state government will pump in some Rs 1000 crore to set up new hospitals and strengthen the existing ones, Badal said. On inaugurating the community center at Dehlon which has been built at the cost of Rs 5 crore he said, This centre has been a long pending demand of the residents of this area and I am happy that we have been able to fulfil this need. This community centre will help resolve the health issue of people living in 40 villages situated around Dehlon.

Apart from this,the government has earmarked Rs 20 crore which will be used to set up hospitals that specialise in cancer. These hospitals will come up in Faridkot,Mohali,Pataila,Bathinda and Amritsar,Badal added.
