With ‘Dreamland’ theme, Chandigarh Carnival promises to be bigger, better

The annual extravaganza, Chandigarh Carnival, organised by the Department of Tourism, UT administration, promises to be bigger and better this year with the theme being `Dreamland'.

Preparations are already on for the three-day mega event that will be inaugurated on November 23 at Leisure Valley, Sector 10. A theme village is being set up at the venue.

'Dreamland' being the main theme, the carnival will be showcasing creativity and imagination revolving around fantasies and dreams in terms of activity-based stalls, cartoon characters and cut outs that will give a special blend to the theme village.

An entrance gate with colourful structures and arches will welcome the visitors to the carnival. More than 40 activity stalls will be set up at the carnival village. Most of them will have interesting feature, including stalls where the visitors will get an analytical glimpse of their dreams and imaginations. The village will have an amusement park, food stalls of various cuisines, a mini rock garden and large number of other stalls as the main attractions for the visitors.

Students from the Chandigarh College of Arts will showcase their creativity through a tableau during the carnival parade, which will have all the characters of the fantasy world and Disneyland like Tom and Jerry, and Mickey Mouse.

The idea of this year's carnival theme is to bring out the best of imaginative innovations and creativity to be showcased at the mega tourism event of the City Beautiful.

The carnival village will also showcase the traditions and cultures of the North-Eastern states. Sikkim Mask Dance performance will be a special attraction on the inaugural day of the carnival.

Renowned Punjabi singer Satinder Sarttaj will perform on November 24, while noted playback singer Alka Yagnik will perform on November 25.

The cultural dancing and singing groups across the country from various regions have been invited for the day-long performances. There will be a special display of vintage cars opposite the carnival village at the Museum and Art Gallery.
