District Congress Committee pays tribute to the Father of the Nation

Ludhiana: Glowing tributes were paid to Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti here on Sunday. The main function of the party was held at District Congress Committee office which was presided over by its president Pawan Dewan. Speaking on the occasion,Dewan said,if India was free and progressing today it was because of the sacrifices of the great leaders like Gandhi . He said,Gandhi had given a new concept of non-violence to the world which was quite unheard of till that time. The DCC president said,Mahatma Gandhi had united the entire nation to fight the tyranny of the British rule. He said, the British empire which took pride in the fact that sun never set on it,had to bow out before the non violence of Gandhi. Dewan also criticised the Akali-BJP government in the state for its failure for coming up to the expectations of the people. He said,it was strange that the Akali-BJP leadership was paying tributes to Gandhi while not following a single principle of the leader.
