  • The Panchkula police arrested two persons on Thursday night after receiving reports that the duo was set to commit robbery on the Sector 27/28 dividing road. One .32 bore pistol, 9 mm carbine and 94 cartridges were recovered from the Indica Car they were in.

The arrested are Mahender Chaudhary, a resident of Mathura (UP) and Brigraj, a resident of Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

“It was on receiving a tip off that we went to the Sector 27/28 dividing road and arrested the two in their Indica car (RJ 11CA 03281). Preliminary investigations suggest the duo was in the city to supply weapons. As the deal could not materialise, they planned a robbery bid,” said Crime Branch In-Charge Inspector Kulbhushan.

Adding that the two were involved in the illegal supply of weapons to Haryana, Punjab and Delhi, Kulbhushan said: “The weapons recovered were brought from Madhya Pradesh.”
