Two more people died of H1N1 in Pune on Wednesday,taking the toll in the city worst hit by the flu outbreak to 15.

Two H1N1-related deaths were also reported in Nashik and one in Aurangabad while doctors suspected that a student who died late on Tuesday,days after he returned to his hometown Dehradun from Pune,was Uttarakhand’s first H1N1 death.

The Pune victims were identified as V W Avgade,55,who died at KEM Hospital,and Narendra Deshpande,54,who died at Sahyadri-Munot Hospital. Both were confirmed H1N1 positive by the National Institute of Virology.

Avgade was hospitalized on Monday with high fever and acute respiratory distress syndrome,said a doctor. Deshpande also had hypertension,high sugar level and respiratory problems.

In Nashik,Sukdev Baste and Bhausaheb Gosavi,who were being treated at the Nashik Civil Hospital for suspected H1N1,died a few days ago due to heart attack and asthma complications respectively. NIV confirmed on Wednesday that both had H1N1.

In Dehradun,doctors said Raunak Singh,24,who was doing B.Tech in Pune and had recently returned home,died of suspected swine flu.
