Raising questions over the craze surrounding reality shows again, Tania Saha (21) reportedly attempted suicide on Monday afternoon at the Nehru Children’s Museum on the sets of a reality show.
The television channel authorities have denied that the girl was a participant in the programme Fatafati — the same reality show which hit the headlines after the death of Prasun Adhikary. But sources said the girl, after failing in the programme’s audition around 3.20 pm, took everyone by surprise at the spot, consuming poison from a bottle she carried with her.
As she lost consciousness, the organisers rushed her to a local nursing home, where she is still admitted and still unconscious.
Soon after, a team from the Hastings Police Station went to the Nehru Children’s Museum and later to the nursing home. They are now waiting for Tania’s version of the story before deciding on a course of action. No FIR has so far been lodged yet.
The episode brings back chilling memories of the August 9 incident, when Prasun Adhikary, a 23-year-old caretaker of a hotel in Medinipur fell to his death from the fifth floor of the hotel building after an alleged wrangle with the organisers of the show.
