  • A BPO employee was yesterday arrested by Noida police for siphoning Rs 92,000 from her friend’s debit card after stealing it from her bag. According to the police, the accused girl was arrested after she was identified through CCTV footage in different ATM booths, from where she had withdrawn money using her friend’s card.

The police said Richa, 24, a senior executive in iEnergizer, BPO based in Noida Sector-60, was arrested for cheating, theft and breach of trust, for stealing her friend Pushpa’s debit card last month. Pushpa also works in the same firm. The two friends had joined iEnergizer together on May 14 and worked in the same department.

On June 4, Richa, a native of Jhansi staying in a PG accommodation in Indirapuram, stole Pushpa’s State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur debit card from her wallet in office. She then allegedly withdrew money from various ATM booths of HDFC Bank and Canara Bank on June 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

“I came to know on June 10 that transactions have been made using my card. I got my card blocked and complained to the police, but they did not register an FIR. I went to my bank to get a statement and also asked them to recover CCTV footage from ATMs on my own. The Noida Police swung into action only then and registered an FIR on June 13,” Pushpa, who stays in Badarpur, told Newsline.

Pushpa alleged that Richa had noted her ATM PIN from her mobile. “I had saved my PIN in my mobile. She took my phone one day, I did not think she would note my PIN,” Pushpa said, claiming Richa had also used her card for shopping.
