Woman killed,15 hurt in LeT attack

A woman was killed and 15 of her co-passengers injured when suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba militants attacked the cavalcade of an Army officer moving ahead of their bus near Thanamandi....

A woman was killed and 15 of her co-passengers injured when suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba militants attacked the cavalcade of an Army officer moving ahead of their bus near Thanamandi in Jammu and Kashmirs Rajouri district Wednesday morning.

The Commandant of 48 Rashtriya Rifles was on his way from Poonch to Rajouri.When the cavalcade reached near Thanamandi,three militants in fatigues fired at it from atop a hill,Rajouri SSP Ramesh Jalla said. The Armymen retaliated. In the meantime,the private bus following the motorcade reached there and was caught in the fire.

By the time,the driver drove the bus out of the flying bullets to a hospital in Thanamandi,a passenger Kiran Bala,a resident of Jammuhad died and 15 had been injured. Three critically injured were later taken to the Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu.
