  • A 34-year-old woman set herself on fire along with her four-year-old son at her residence in Atharva Apartment in Sadashiv Peth on Saturday, following a quarrel with her husband and in-laws.

Vinaya alias Rohini Ravindra Bhave is reported to be serious with 96 per cent burns while her son Kedar succumbed to his injuries, police said. The process of filing complaint against her husband Ravindra (38) and father-in-law Shrikant (71) was on at the Vishrambaug police station till Saturday evening.

According to the Vishrambaug police, quarrels were a regular affair between Ravindra and Vinaya. Ravindra often used abusive language against Vinaya’s parents that became an issue between the two, police said. On Saturday, Vinaya set herself on fire along with her son around 11.45 am, when her husband and in-laws were not at home. The fire was noticed by other residents who called the police.
