  • A 30-year-old woman threw her daughters from the sixth floor of a building before she herself jumped to death. All three died on the spot, said the police.

In her suicide note, Sunita Arvind Khandagale said she was taking the extreme step because her husband had been unfaithful.

She was living with her husband, in-laws, brother in-law and two daughters — Harshada (5) and Sakshi (4) — in Pudamjee Paradise, Bhavani Peth.

“Sunita said in the suicide note that her husband was having an extra-marital affair with a woman named Sheetal who sent him SMSes and called him up frequently. She also said her body should be handed over to her brother,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police Suresh Pote.

“We suspect that she killed her children thinking no one would take care of them after her death. An offence will be registered against her husband Arvind under Section 306 (abetting suicide) of the IPC,” Pote added.

On Thursday morning, Arvind left home for work after which Sunita took her daughters to the terrace of the building. She first threw Sakshi, then Harshada, after which she herself jumped from the terrace.

Residents of the building saw them lying in a pool of blood and informed the police and family members.

“The victims died on the spot. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” a policeman said.
