Widower in drag uses wife’s ID for gym
HONG KONG: A man who wore women’s clothing to use his dead wife’s gym membership has appeared in a Hong Kong court, a report said on Tuesday. Lau Siu-wah, 51, was charged after he allegedly used his wife’s identification card to exercise in the female-only section of the gym at the city’s Sheraton hotel, The Standard daily reported. But the man’s looks aroused suspicion and police were called, the report said, adding that Lau was quickly arrested.
Internet could run out of web addresses next year
London: The world could well run out of Internet addresses next year, unless urgent action is taken to switch to a new generation of net addresses, the European Commission has warned. According to the commission, businesses urgently need to upgrade to Internet protocol version six or IPv6, a new version of the Internet’s addressing protocol, which will increase the number of available addresses. But, not many companies are ready to migrate to the new platform.
UAE to have women muftis by next year
DUBAI: UAE is set to appoint the world’s first state-sanctioned female muftis next year after the country’s head of Islamic Affairs announced plans to recruit and train them. Six Emirati women will be considered for the training programme, said Dr Ahmed al Haddad, the head of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department The move follows a fatwa issued by Grand Mufti Dr al Haddad in February that sanctioned women’s role as muftis.
