New Delhi, September 24 : The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) on Wednesday joined the steadily increasing chorus of voices demanding action against the Bajrang Dal, blamed for the recent outbreak of anti-Christian violence in Orissa and Karnataka. Several political parties, particularly the CPI(M), Samajwadi Party, RJD and LJP, have already demanded action against the saffron outfit, accusing it of indulging in violence and damaging the secular fabric of the country.

A three-member team of NCM, led by chairman Mohamed Shafi Qureshi, which toured the violence-hit areas of Karnataka, submitted its report to the Commission, blaming the Bajrang Dal and seeking action against it. The findings will be submitted to the PMO later this week. The team has also called for confidence-building measures to end fear among the minorities in the violence-hit regions of the state. On whether Bajrang Dal should be banned, NCM officials said that the quantum of response was a call which was to be taken by the Centre but stressed the need for some sort of action. The report is critical of the the state Government’s role in dealing with the situation and the police’s handling of the vandalisation of churches and prayer halls.

Worse than terrorism by Krishna Pradhan on 2008-09-25 06:22:58.509531+05:30
Genocide is the name for what the Bajeang Dal and their supporters are attempting. Such acts in the name of Hindus are condemned by all right thnking Hindus and spiritual leaders such as Swami Agnivesh, SriSri Ravi Shanker and others. This is worse than terrorism because it weakens the bonds between Hindu-Muslim-Sikh-Isai which is the pride and strength of our great indian nation. Disunity made India weak. Why can't we learn from History?
