A 22-year-old MBA student committed suicide on Sunday morning by jumping from the terrace of a six-storey building at Santacruz. The police suspect that a love affair gone wrong may have driven him to take the step.
According to the Santacruz police Viven Bhandarkar (22) was a resident of Ashit Society on Juhu-Koliwada Road in Santacruz. He jumped to death on Sunday. The noise of the fall and Bhandarkars screams alerted the watchman who rushed to Vivens third-floor residence to inform his parents.
No suicide note was recovered. Primary inquiries have revealed that Viven was frustrated due to problems in an online love affair. He was also seeing a counsellor in connection with the same, said senior police inspector Madhukar Chaudhary of Santacruz police.
Chaudhary added that Viven had become aloof and would not even speak to his parents. Vivens father told us that he would shut himself in his room all day and keep chatting online. His body has been sent to the Cooper Hospital for post mortem. We have registered a case of suicide, he said. Viven studied at the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) Bandra.
