Wrote two letters,still PM didn’t act on corruption: Gupta

It is true the Prime Minister knew the irregularities of major dimension going on. But he did not lift his finger.

Claiming to have written two letters to the Prime Minister on corruption,senior CPI leader Gurudas Dass Gupta today accused Manmohan Singh of not taking action against the menace.

“It is true the Prime Minister knew the irregularities of major dimension going on. But he did not lift his finger. I reached to him (with complaints of corruption),but he did not take any action,” Member of Parliament and General Secretary of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Gupta told reporters on the sidelines of a day-long convention of AITUC here. Gupta further said: “He (PM) did not take action because he thought that if he takes any action against the DMK minister then his government would be in danger.”

The CPI leader claimed writing two letters to the PM,bringing the issue to his notice.

“To him,remaining in power was more important than to act against corruption,even after being warned by a senior Member of Parliament like me. I wrote him two letters even then he did not take action,” Gupta said.

The Prime Minister and Supreme Court judges should be brought under the purview of Lokpal bill,Gupta added.
