  • Cashing on the exchange of words between Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh and Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Yamuna, the Leader of Opposition VK Malhotra lashed out at Delhi government on Friday. Jairam Ramesh, he said, has “unmasked” Dikshit’s claims on Yamuna Plan and has nailed the ‘lies’.

Jairam Ramesh had said on Thursday that Delhi needed to do more by ensuring untreated sewage is not dumped in it.

“The CM’s constant refrain about the schemes under the Yamuna Action Plan is equivalent to misleading the public on purpose and she has been making these statements almost as a ritual for the last 10 years and has spent crores on it since,” Malhotra said.

According to the BJP, the Delhi government has already spent Rs 2,800 crore to clean the river. Dikshit had also made it clear during last assembly session that it will not be possible to clean Yamuna before the Games.
