YCM Hospital in Pimpri will soon be accredited as one of the country’s sentinel surveillance centres that will follow a standard protocol to test serum samples.

YCM Hospital in Pimpri will soon be accredited as one of the country’s sentinel surveillance centres that will follow a standard protocol to test serum samples. Dr Milind Jawale,Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation,the medical officer in charge of the surveillance programme,said not every sample that is IgM positive is dengue. A standard test protocol has to be followed after which the serum samples are adjudged positive. So far there has been one dengue death in PCMC area. According to state health officials there have been 81 outbreaks of dengue in the state,the most recent in Jalgaon.
