New Delhi, September 25: : Expressing disbelief over the Nanavati Commission report which gave a clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said no youth would have turned terrorists had the BJP leader been punished.

"People will not believe that Modi is innocent. He is a communal virus centre and has been disallowed to travel abroad. Had he been punished for his crime, no youth would have turned terrorists today," Prasad, who had instituted the Banerjee Commission on the Godhra train tragedy four years back, said.

"Even former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had advised Modi to maintain ‘Raj dharm’ in the aftermath of Godhra incident. All social organisations, civil liberties groups have also criticised Modi for the communal violence in Gujarat," he said.

Noting that this is a very contradictory report as compared to that of the Banerjee Commission report, which went into the same incident, he said this has led to a ‘confusing’ situation as both are former Supreme Court judges.

"We are procuring the report of Nanavati Commission and will examine it to decide the future course of action. We will see what law has to say about it," said Prasad.

He also objected to the Nanavati Commission handing over the report to Modi instead of the Chief Secretary of the state.

Nanavati report given in piece-meal, says CPM

The CPM said the Nanavati Commission report on the Godhra carnage was a report in ‘piece-meal’ and that it was trying to justify the action-reaction theory.

"Giving the report in piece-meal points a needle of suspicion that the report is trying to justify the action-reaction theory," CPM Politburo member Sitaram Yechury said.

Prima facie, he said, the Nanavati report completely contradicts the U C Banerjee report.

"It also contradicts the fact that so far in all Godhra cases, investigators have not been able to prove the charges in the on-going criminal cases," he added.

Look who's talking by Arun on 2008-09-26 13:08:18.657914+05:30
Look who's talking. One who supports a govt. which orchaestrated anti-sikh riots in 1984 is now shamelessly blaming Modi. I pray that Modi becomes the PM one day and punish all these wolves just fooling people and enjoying in the name of fake secularism.
NANAVATI REPORT by N.V.SANKARAN on 2008-09-26 13:02:36.03366+05:30
Sir,The reactions from different people/political parties against the Nanavati Commission’s report are interesting and to some extend comical. In order to understand it properly, one should look into the chronology of events after the Godhra train burning. The initial reaction from everybody, including the secular media was that the bogey was suspected to be burned from outside by some Islamist activists. The 3rd day after that there was very strong backlash against the Muslim community all over Gujarat. Then, in order to pacify the Muslim sentiments, the secularists said that the Kar Sevaks quarreled with some of the Muslim vendors and the train burning was the result of that quarrel. Later, the Congress and other secular parties realized that such observation would put the local Muslims in bad light and they suggested that the train burning was a conspiracy by the Hindutwa brigade and that the Kar Sevaks burned themselves to tarnish the image of the Muslims. When his view was rubbished by most people, they propagated that the incident was an accident and that there was no Muslim involved in that. Later, when the UPA came to power, they appointed a pliant judge Mr. U.C. Bannerji, to submit a report confirming that it was indeed an accident. The BJP has, understandably, welcomed the Nanavati commission report and claims that it has brought the truth out. The Congress spokesman said, the findings of the commission was as expected as the Nanavati Commission was appointed by Mr. Modi. He seems to forget that the Baannerji commission report was also on expected lines since that commission was instituted by Mr. Lalu Prasad, a proclaimed BJP and Modi hater. The Congress also says that submission of the report in part was politically motivated with an eye on the coming elections. Here again, they forget that the interim report of the Bannergi Commission was published less than one month before the Bihar elections. What was their motive for publishing that interim report just before the elections?Mr. Lalu Prasad says the incident could not have been a conspiracy, but he has no logical reason to suggest so, except that he does not want the Muslims to be implicated, come whatever may. Mrs. Teesta Setalvad says that submitting of the commission’s report in part while the cases were running in the Supreme court was unconstitutional. But she does not find anything unconstitutional in the publication of the Bannergi Commission’s interim report. Was it not a part of the complete report? That Mr. Bannergee stands by his findings are only a natural reaction from any human being in his position.
commission reports on violence by venkatesh kotian on 2008-09-26 12:06:08.761946+05:30
Nanavati commission report or any other commission report all are eyewash, fooling the people. Every time any violence take place some commissions are appointed and respective Governments wash their hands. Truth never comes out crores of Rupees being spent on these commissions. Why Should the people of this Country trust the commissions, police or politicians. One or the other political parties are involved in such violence.
Communalisation of India by Vidyadhar on 2008-09-26 11:45:32.51752+05:30
All thses communal polarisation could have been avoided had the three sacrad places, Ayodhya, Bararas and Mathura temples had been restored and the mosques standing at these palces been shifted to someother place. Pseudo secularism is the root cause of all the bane India is facing

Lallu SIMI Prasad by venkat on 2008-09-26 10:11:25.799523+05:30
Lallu Simi Prasad is a super thief. He was defeated in the elections. He has become a Minister only because the Congress party did not have a majority. So they gathered people like Lallu to rule the country. Hence this country is suffering.
Nanavati Report by Anil on 2008-09-26 10:05:37.138833+05:30
We Indian people cannot expect more than this from so called Thekedar of Secular forces. If a judge find whatever suits to Mr Lalu and CPM then he would have rewarded by these people like Mr Banerjee did. Since this finding do not suit people like Mr Lalu, CPM or any other political party, they will go to blaim anyone whatever post he hold. This is tragedy to Indian people that we can remove these politicians who are hurdles in growth of India and are intrested in their own intrest of befooling people like us.
SO called Seculars by Shirish Ganu on 2008-09-26 09:43:30.482554+05:30
Whats more interesting than the article are the comments posted. Mr. Irfan talked about "we" ruled for 800 hundred years. I want to ask him what has happened to His community today after their 800 year "Rule". Poverty, desperation, driven like heard of goats by Ulema and maulavees. This trend of "Jihad" only Allah knows with whom! has spread deep in to highly educated muslims. It tells us something about the faith and religion. I myself dont believe in such reports by any committee as all of them are only to safegaurd someones personal interests and not to find truth. But yes I would rather go with Modi and Raj thakre than with Lalu, Mulayam, Abu azmi, Arjunsingh, and Soniyaji. Modi really shines as a new hope of revival of great Bharat dream left in between by Atalji, and forgotten by UPA. Muslim pockets like Azamgarh, deoband are the birth places of terror and so called seculars are busy protecting their vote banks by protecting terrorists.

Does anyone believe what Lalu says! by Hanglur on 2008-09-26 09:16:17.91478+05:30
These rogues like Lalus, Manmohan Singhs, Paswan, Yechuries, Karats, Gowdas etc could sleep peacefully, happily and soundly when they saw the train burning and cries of Hindus caught inside the train and grieving relatives of train-burning victims. I suggest them to convert to Muslim and reform Muslims so that all terrorist activities are stopped. Even Mohammad-bin-Tughalak would not told that victims closed the train doors and put fire on themselves just put blames on Muslim community as Lalu's Bannergee report made us to believe. Lalu should not know that nobody including his own wife would not believe what he says.
Godhra verdict by R.Balasundaram on 2008-09-26 08:59:52.133465+05:30
For Lalu 'SIMI' is a national outfit; all sangh parivar outfits, nay, any organisation connected with HINDUS , are otlaws and should be banned! No one can say Modi is anti national or supporting terror.Any verdict by acommission headed by supreme court judge should be considered with respect; otherwise people will lose faith in supreme court itself. Whether Banerjee is right or Nanavati is right, Supreme court should adjudicate. President should seek intervention of SC. Till such time all concerned , particularly media, should keep their mouth shut!keep
laloo's defence of SECULARISM by vasudev on 2008-09-26 08:55:01.501134+05:30
No moderate hindus would have become communal, had Afzal guru been hanged, had tough laws against terror be enacted, had reservations based on religion not enforced, had dubious conversions been stopped.....there is an endless list. Laloo ji we are not your foolish vote bank to be fooled. what do the riots in gujarath have to do with the terror nursery in azamgarh. if there is connection, then the entire hindu community should have turned terrorists when kashmiri hindus were killed, raped and driven out of their homes. Why is it that the bombs go off only in areas with seizable hindu population and temples. Even in the recent delhi blasts case, not one bomb went off in Jamia nagar. These questions are not very difficult to answer. islam wants to gobble the entire subcontinent and laloos / mulayams / teestas / vinod mehtas are their foot soldiers.
Nanaji ki report by Irfan on 2008-09-26 08:29:15.716433+05:30
See we have also ruled for 800 years and had we have done 10% of what is being done in this era, there would have been no question of majoirity and minority in this country.

masscare of hindus
by vasudev on 2008-09-26 09:02:11.334068+05:30
Dear ifran,Muslims, during their reign demolished thousands of hinndu temples, levied jaziya tax on non-muslims and massacared lakhs of hindus. you probably did not read your history books properly. The most recent such incident was the masscare of hindus by the razakkars of Nizam of hyderabad. Better do your homework before you speak.

What have we done.
by anwar shaikh on 2008-09-26 09:02:07.163281+05:30
Had we not done what we have done, India and Iran would have been in the forefront of Industrial revolution, whole 500 years ahead of europe.
Lallu the Great!!! by Krishna on 2008-09-26 08:22:11.987711+05:30
Lallu who cares for your comments!!! The guy who should have been behind bars for ruining Bihar is commenting on others' so called misdeeds. Paradox is that this type of bafoons are invited to address IIMS graduates.

Mr.similallu you may be right in your thinking ! because you have already decided to become either muslim or christian. All hindus should not have any relation with you or your family. Do you listen SIMILALLU ? We hindus( now you are not a hindu !) know what is right or wrong ?
Islam and terrorism by Grizzly Bear on 2008-09-26 07:48:18.739957+05:30
If islam were to be ever clothed in the garb of political idealogy (which it anyways is) instead of speaking of it as religion it demonstrates a lot of fascism in it. That is what breeds terrorists. You need both hands to clap. Lalu, Paswan and other ministers keep harping that muslims are as innocent and it is the hindu who is at fault. Hindus in gujarat didn't riot out of the blue but the catalyst was the Godhra massacre. Why is spin being concocted on this incident that Godhra wasn't done by muslims. Whenever I pass through any town or village - I see more muslim population. Is there any conspiracy by the Govt to hide the fact that Muslims are just 15% and not much more of the population. The way I see it while travelling through villages and towns is that Muslims could be more than 40% of the Indian population. You see it everywhere - UP,Bihar, Bengal, Meghalaya, Tripura, Assam, Tamil Nad, AP, Karnataka etc.
Lalu on Nanvati Report by sunthikar on 2008-09-26 07:46:06.576878+05:30
What sort of theory is this propounded by Mr.Lalu Prasad Yadav?. "SIMI activists are innocent" etc'. Now, Nanvati Committee is not correct, whereas his Banerjee report is correct. Is he pro-terror? Look at the incidents involving burning of trains. He does not seem to care. He has ruined Bihar, now he will do the same for India
islam and terrorism - a symibotic relationship by Grizzly Bear on 2008-09-26 07:34:09.41129+05:30
Whether Modi is guilty or not is not relevant. The very structure of ISLAM demands that non-islamic people are termed as kafirs and they don't have the same rights as muslims. So if a muslim kills a non-muslim and terms it as jihad even though it may have a criminal intent he would still be exonerated by a muslim sharia. The root cause of terrorism is this that islam gives a carte blanche to muslims to kill non-muslims and not suffer penalty.
