Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa is confident that he will complete full term.

The truce between the warring sides in Karnataka BJP on Monday claimed its first political victim when the controversial woman minister Shobha Karandlaje, a confidante of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, was forced to resign under pressure from rebels.

The 45-year-old Panchayat Raj Minister tendered her resignation which was immediately accepted by Yeddyurappa, who had late last night said there was no no question of removal of any minister.

But this morning, he backtracked to say that the Core Committee to be constituted to monitor the party affairs will decide which are the ministers to be removed. The only woman member of the Cabinet and the first-time MLA from Yeshwantpur constituency in the city, Karndlaje was the target dissident MLAs, led by the Reddy brothers, who had attacked her for her being accorded prominence by the Chief Minister. They also charged her with "interfering" with the functioning of other ministries.

"Shobha Karandlaje tendered her resignation today and the chief minister has accepted it and forwarded it to the Governor", said the Chief Minister's Secretariat.

Earlier on Friday, the Chief Minister had shunted out his Principal Secretary V P Baligar to industry department under pressure from the dissidents. Karandlaje's resignation came a day after the the Chief Minister and dissident leader Transport Minister G Janardhana Reddy arrived at a compromise in the presence of senior leader L K Advani to end the fortnight-old open bickering.

Along with his elder brother and Revenue Minister G Karuakar Reddy, Janardhana and other rebels had demanded the removal of Yeddyurappa.

BSY shameless selfish fellowBy: Balu, Canada | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward YBSY is most selfish and to keep his CM berth he made lots of dramas. He should not complete the term, he is useless to Karanataka and the people of Karnataka!!!
Good sense of Kannada JanaBy: N J Ramesh | 09-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward The support of Reddy brothers has been crucial to bring BJP to Karnataka. This calls for some gratitude by BJP sympathisers. However, any effort to commandeer State resources and subvert the broadbased development agenda or undermine the collective will of the people is likely to invite serious retribution. The most Reddy brothers can expect is bit of political leeway where in they regularilise their business operations and rapidly ensure legal compliance. If BJP succumbs to or seen as succumbing to unlawful pressures, then the bi-polar polity in India would fail, making roads for Indian Left to emerge as the only credible alternative to INC. The good sense of Kannada Jana does provide bit of leeway to Reddy brother and BJP presently, but only to be back in corrective mode, not for further deviance.
Well Done YediurappaBy: Venkit | 09-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Weel done Mr.yediurappa for showing the guts to stand up to the bullying and strong tactics of Reddy brothers.BJP did the biggest mistake in depending the money and muscle power of Coal mafia and now have to pay a heavy price for it.Let the BJP instead put the trust on common man and build up the organization instead of banking on mafias and industrialists for money.Mr.yediurappa should communicate directly with the common man and adress to their problem instead of reaching out thru mafia agents.he should also immediately sack the Reddy brothers from the ministry and send clear signals that he will not tollerate any more interference in administration.karnataka people have more confidence in Yediurappa and his leadership as he alone build up the party in karnataka to come to this stage.Let him assert now.Thro Reddys out of the state.Let them find some other pastures in AP where their co traveller Jaganmohan is trying the same tactics to come to power

How can he?By: AMK | 09-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Do you think the crisis would have lasted this long, if BSY had a chance of letting the Reddy brothers go?? He is dependent on them as they have too many MLAs on their side. I hope we don't have early elections in Ktk for the third time in a row.

BJP Drama.By: Vijendra | 09-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward We saw the truce between two segments of Karnataka BJP, with a victory symbol, and exchanging sweets. All the factions of BJP won, but the people of Karnataka are the loosers. People are dying of draught, inflation, lethergic government etc., but this government is shamelessly fighting each other, and ultimately came out SQUARE ONE. This government deserves to be thrown out, or else atleast call back the dessent faction in the government, esepecially Reddy brothers how anchored the split drama, and ruined the state.
Yeah SureBy: crystal | 09-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Yeah sure he will survive. But will Anarkali, his lover survive for 5 years. Yeddy is easily the most shameless CM in India
