A youth had a narrow escape after being shot at while reportedly trying to prevent two men from harassing a woman in the Model Town area on Monday. While the youth, Jagdeep Singh was shot in the thigh, his condition is said to be out of danger.
The incident occurred at about 7. 30 pm on Monday and at the time of filing of this report, police were conducting investigations at the spot.
SHO Model Town Ashok Kumar, said: "Eye witnesses have told us that a couple was standing at a shop when two boys started harassing the woman. Jagdeep tried to stop them. At first the boys, who were in a car, did not say anything but just as they were driving away, one of them shot at Jagdeep, who has been hit in the thigh".
Police added that nearby shop keepers said the accused were traveling in a white Ford Figo car. " We are collecting any and every information available on these persons who will be arrested very soon," SHO Kumar added.
Residents of areas like Model Town and Sarabha Nagar say that eve teasing has become a huge menace in these areas.
