The Indian Youth Congress on Saturday dismissed its elected president from Shravasti Lok Sabha segment,Mohd. Rashid Aziz, following pending criminal cases against him. A formal complaint against Aziz was lodged with the Youth Congress Election Commission by another elected representative,Pankaj Gupta, who had stood second to him and was made the vice-president of the segment.
Following the allegations on the criminal past of Aziz,an inquiry was conducted by the Foundation for Advanced Management of Elections (FAME),an NGO which had the Youth Congress elections in Uttar Pradesh. After the allegations against Aziz were found to be true, the IYC decided to dismiss him with immediate effect.
As the entire election process is seen by FAME,they conducted this inquiry as well. We have been informed that the charges on Aziz have been found to be true and so the IYC has decided to dismiss him, said Virender Rathore,General Secretary,IYC.
When asked,Aziz said that he would file an appeal with IYC. It is wrong to take action against anyone for pending cases. I had informed about the IPC 307 case (attempt to murder) against me in my affidavit. I have been given a clean chit in that case and I had informed about this clean chit also in my affidavit. However, the rest two cases registered under IPC 120B and 323 are still pending and are politically motivated, he said.
