A lover’s tiff between a chartered accountant and his girlfriend ended at the police station on Saturday when the girl registered a complaint against the boy alleging he threatened to throw acid on her if she refused to go out with him. The Shivaji Park police arrested Viral Mamalia on charges of criminal intimidation and causing damage to property. Mamalia was, however, later released on bail.
“The girl, a marketing professional, was managing a stall at an ongoing exhibition at the Dadar’s D’Silva School ground on Saturday. In the afternoon, Mamalia came to her stall and asked her to go out with him. When she refused saying that she was at work and wouldn’t be able to leave, he grew agitated and a scuffle ensued between the two,” said Police Inspector Vilas Gurav. He allegedly threatened her saying that if she refused to comply, he would throw acid on her, Gurav added.
