A surprise awaited Irfan Pathan as he offered his namaz on Monday, with his father handing him over the keys of a swanky SUV — a gift on the occasion of Eid from elder brother Yusuf Pathan, who is in South Africa to play the Champions Trophy.

According to family sources, Irfan had arrived in city late on Sunday night to celebrate the festival with his family, who stay in the Tandalja locality of Vadodara.

“It was in the morning that his father, Mehboob Khan Pathan, gave him the keys of a Toyota Fortuner after Irfan had offered his namaz,” said the source, adding that an elated Irfan immediately called up Yusuf in South Africa and thanked him for the Idi.

Later, Irfan said that he would pray for his brother and the team’s success in the Champions Trophy.

“My brother Yusuf has given me this gift as Idi given during Eid. I am speechless, I wish him all the best for the Champions trophy,” said the left-arm seamer.

Family sources said that Yusuf had booked the SUV six months ago had told his father to keep it a secret.
