Yuva Express on track: Cheaper travel for students,jobless youth

The Yuva Express superfast train from Hazrat Nizamuddin station to Bandra Terminus was flagged off today morning by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. With this,students and unemployed youths can shuttle between the two Metros for as low as Rs 80,depending on the distance.

“The fare will range from Rs 80 for the first 100 km,Rs 299 for up to 1,500 km and a maximum of Rs 399 up to 2,500 km. At present,these trains are proposed to run as a weekly service between Mumbai and Delhi and New Delhi and Kolkata,” a Northern Railways spokesperson said.

Sixty per cent seats will be reserved for youths and passengers in the low-income group; the remaining will be available for other passengers. To avail the facility,a youth has to carry proofs of birth and unemployment. Normal fare of travel will be charged from general passengers. The first Yuva train between Howrah and New Delhi was flagged off on December 30 last year.
