Yuvraj dropped,Rohit in the mix

Middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh has been dropped for the third and final Test

Middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh has been dropped for the third and final Test against the West Indies after failing to score a half-century in three innings in the first two Tests. Rohit Sharma, who has made two back-to-back hundreds for Mumbai in the first two rounds of the Ranji Trophy, has been named in the squad.

Yuvraj regained his place in the Test squad following his Man of the Tournament award during India’s World Cup-winning campaign. His comeback was derailed when he fractured his index finger after being struck by a bouncer from Tim Bresnan during the second Test at Trent Bridge before being included for the first Test against the West Indies after recovering. However, the selectors have been left disappointed after scores of 23,18 and 25. What added to the lack of faith was the manner in which he struggled to play the short ball on the docile wicket in Kolkata. The axing means the No.6 slot in the Test batting line-up is up for grabs again.

The selectors continue to be unimpressed with the form of veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has picked up just one wicket in Ranji Trophy so far. According to a source close to the selection committee,Harbhajan will have to show drastic improvement in his bowling form if he is to be considered for the tour of Australia
