With the stage set for the Assembly elections in Panchkula, sons of INLD candidate Yograj Singh refused to campaign for their father. While elder son cricketer Yuvraj Singh did not turn up at all, younger Zoravar Singh, interestingly, campaigned for the Haryana Janhit Congress Shashi Sharma in Sector 19 on Saturday.
Yograj, in fact, had planned to carry his campaign around his cricketer son. The posters and hoardings of INLD had the pictures of Yuvraj and Yograj’s publicity officers repeatedly claimed that Yuvraj would campaign soon. He never turned up, though.
In a recent press conference, Yograj finally admitted: “Yuvraj has injured himself and taking rest. Even otherwise, politics is not his line so I do not expect him to come for my campaigning.”
The other major candidates in the fray are BJP candidate Gyan Chand Gupta and Congress candidate DK Bansal.
While the Congress nominee is stressing on the over all development under the Hooda government, Yograj Singh claims that Congress has made the poor poorer by its flawed policies. Similarly, while Sharma claimed that he is the only local candidate, Bansal said his forefathers lived at Barwala block of Panchkula. Campaigning for Sharma recently, HJC leader Kuldeep Bishnoi said, “The Chautalas and Congress have been given a chance and we now request voters to give a chance to us to prove ourselves.”
On the other hand, Union minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, former CM of Punjab Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, and Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal campaigned for Bansal this evening.
