New Delhi, September 20: : Claiming a major breakthrough in last week's serial blasts in the national capital, Delhi police on Saturday said two of those arrested after Friday's encounter have confessed to their involvement in the Terror act having planted explosives in two places.

Acting on a tip off, police on Friday night arrested a suspected militant Zeeshan from the premises of a news channel where he had gone to give an interview. With his arrest, police had caught two militants allegedly involved in the blasts.

Investigators are on the look out for at least ten people who planted bombs following the "disclosure" by Mohd Saif, who was arrested after a fierce encounter in South Delhi in which two other suspected militants were killed, a senior police official said.

The official claimed that Saif had confessed to his role in the Delhi serial blasts which claimed over 20 lives and that he planted a bomb near Regal Cinema in Connaught Place.

The bomb was defused after it was spotted by a rag picker who alerted police.

The official claimed that a group of two men each went to plant the bombs in the city.

Saif also told investigators that Atif, who was among the two who was killed in the daring encounter in Jamia Nagar on Friday, was the mastermind of the blasts and that he was a prominent member of the Indian Mujahideen, the official said.

Atif himself planted the bomb in Greater Kailash market in South Delhi, Saif is believed to have told sleuths of Delhi Police's Special Cell who are interrogating him.

The ten men, for whom the police are conducting searches in various places including Jamia Nagar in South Delhi, are believed to have been brought to Delhi by Atif on July 27.

Atif, who is believed to have links with Tauqeer, the mastermind behind the serial blasts in various parts of the country in the recent past, had travelled to Ahmedabad on July 24, two days before the serial blasts in that city, Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal said.

He allegedly went to Gujarat with 10 people on July 24 and returned on July 27 along with 12 others including two people who believed to have arranged for the cars found laden with explosives in Surat.

Saif and Zeeshan will be produced in a city court later on Saturday.

Trial of Terrorist killers by Basudeo Mukhopadhyay on 2008-09-20 12:45:37.331909+05:30
The govt. should create special detention centre in Andaman / Nicobar islands and send any terrorist captured, anyone supporting or sympathizing with terrorists to that detention centre for interrogating and subsequently lodge there itself. Govt. is also required to declare a new law that terrorists will be outside the normal Indian judiciary system. Govt. will have special powers to keep the terrorists in the detention centre for questioning indefinitely. Once the interrogations are completed, then a military court should step in to conduct trials. Based on the verdictions of the military court the killers should be punished according to the final judgement. These killers should be given a chance to appeal to any high court or supreme court through their advocates only. No bail should be allowed until the final judgement from the appeal court is decided. This will help reduce the magnitude of terrorist activities within the territory of India. Jai Hind.Basudeo/Tahiti.
Where are the seculer champions by C.K.Sunil on 2008-09-20 11:57:00.431927+05:30
iIt is intriguing that no responsible persons who chapion the cause of muslims in TV debates come out to condemn these blasts which takes place almost every month. When Christions were attaked last week more voicefrouse criticism came from the huidu community than any other. Further, any other extrimism in the community is countered by the hindus themeselves and this act as a counter force againt the extrimism. Majority of the moderate and true faithful among the muslims are not coming out against the extrimism and their silence is considered as an approval in disguize by the extrimists forcing others to view the entire community in a bad light. This manace has to be countered by the community themselves first. An example is the Khalisthan militants destroyed under KPS Gill with the support of Sikhs. Any action by others including police would be dumped as communal and counter productive.
Kudos for Delhi Police by Diwakar Kumar on 2008-09-20 11:31:19.41342+05:30
Kudos for Delhi Police Delhi Police have done a great job in the recent encounter of Jamia Nagar. The general public should know that the militants have no religion, no caste, and no family. They have their own path to follow which has only one result called ENCOUNTER. They all should be made stand in a queue and deserve one open fire with their own gun naming AK-47. They are anti-social elements and deserve nothing but a shoot. We people should aide the government and police in nabbing and encountering them rather than making shout and polarising the atmosphere.Delhi Police have lost one more decorated official. I, Diwakar Sharma, deeply regret on MC Sharma's death. He was really a brave soldier. The arrested militant needs to kept under third degree procedure. It's the time to unite and fight against global terrorism.Diwakar Kumar (9311116514)
Terrorists and their supporters by ramesh kumar on 2008-09-20 10:55:25.220044+05:30
Unless and until this present Congress/UPA govt. is removed from power, people of India will suffer more and more terrorist attacks. Because the present govt. is terrorist friendly. And, look at the people in Jamia Nagar! They helped the two terrorists escape from the security personnel, by blocking the security personnel entering the building where the terrorists were hiding. These people are more dangerous than the terrorists. Providing all support to the terrorists, and yet they claim that they are secular, peaceful, and Indians! Only and only BJP can save us from these terrorists and the terrorist supporting Jihadi residents!
