Zinc futures surge 1.46 pct

Tracking other base metals,zinc prices rose by 1.46 per cent to Rs 111.45 per kg in futures trade on Monday.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter,zinc prices for delivery in January traded higher by Rs 1.60,or 1.46 per cent,to Rs 111.45 per kg,with a business turnover of three lots.

The metal for delivery in February was enquired higher by Rs 1.50,or 1.35 per cent,to Rs 112.55 per kg,with a business turnover of 14 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures prices to a firm trend in copper and other base metals and pick up in its demand.
