Zydus to set up 3 hospitals in state for Rs 400 crore

Pharmaceutical major Zydus Cadila has firmed up plans to open three different hospitals at Ahmedabad, Anand and Vadodara at a total investment of Rs 400 crore. These hospitals will together have a capacity of over 1,100 beds.

A new entity, Zydus Hospitals Pvt Ltd, floated for the purpose will be in charge of these hospitals that are expected to be functional by 2015. "The multi-speciality hospital in Ahmedabad, being built on 10,000 square meters near Thaltej, will have about 500 beds and will be functional by October 2013," said Pankaj Patel, CMD of Zydus Cadila.

The company has already acquired space for a 300-bed hospital at Anand and a third one (with 300 beds) on Gotri road in Vadodara is also under different stages of planning and implementation.

While the hospital in Ahmedabad will entail an investment of Rs 200 crore, the one in Anand and Vadodara will cost Rs 100 crore each.
