Aishwarya and Abhishek, who first met on the sets of Dhai Akshar Prem Ka, tied the knot on April 20, 2007 as per Hindu rites at a ceremony at the Bachchan's Juhu residence, Prateeksha. North Indian and Bengali ceremonies were also performed. The who's who of Bollywood was at the wedding ceremony
Aishwarya and Abhishek, who are known as Bollywood's hottest couple today, did their first film Dhai Akshar Prem Ka but at this time however, there was no romance between the two, as Abhishek was engaged to Karisma Kapoor and Ash was dating Salman Khan.

Rumours about Ash and Abhi being a couple started during the shooting of Umrao Jaan but the two remained tightlipped even after the release of the film.
At a recent award ceremony, doting husband Abhishek attributed his success to wife Aishwarya and said: “I really owe this to Aishwarya and the love and support she has given me. She makes me the person that I am."
Just a month before Ash and Abhi tied the knot, their movie Guru release, which was a hit.
The couple were spotted hand in had at the premiere of Yash Chopra's movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
In June 2011 Abhishek's father and megastar Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to announce that his bahu Aishwarya Rai was pregnant.

Aishwarya Rai gave birth to a baby girl on November 16, 2011, who was finally named as Aaradhya Bachchan in March 2012. Earlier she was addressed as Beti B by the media. Grand father Big B later confirmed to a fan's message on Twitter that his grand daughter has been named Aaradhya.
And ever since the birth of their daughter Aaradhya, the media's focus has shifted to the little one. Aishwarya did try to hide Aaradhya's face and keep her away from the limelight but now the new mom is making no effort in hiding Aaradhya's face.(PTI)

Aishwarya Rai is also very popular for her humanitarian work. In September 2012, Aishwarya was appointed as the new international Goodwill Ambassador for UNAIDS.
Along with other members of the Bachchan family, Aishwarya laid the foundation of a special school for underprivileged girls in Daulatpur village in Uttar Pradesh in 2008. The construction is being funded by the Bachchan family, and the school will be named after Aishwarya.
Aishwarya Rai, who is truly a global icon, finally accepted the second-highest Order Of France, Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, in 2012. The award was presented to her on her birthday in November 2011 and as per her wish she was accompanied by her family including little Aaradhya.

Before they actually became a couple, the two along with Amitabh Bachchan also did an item number Kajrare in Bunty Aur Babli (2005).
In 2006 J P Dutta cast Abhishek and Ash in the remake of Umrao Jaan. The same year the two were seen in Dhoom 2. Ash in skimpy clothes and Sunehri look while Abhishek as the tough cop -- too bad they weren’t paired together.
The couple did their first film post marriage - Sarkar Raj. This time the duo was joined by father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan. The movie failed to click but their onscreen chemistry was the talk of the town.
In 2010, Mani Ratnam again got the couple together in Ravan. Ash who was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish (2010) might soon return to the big screen. Abhishek, meanwhile, is busy shooting for Dhoom 3. Between Abhishek’s busy work schedule and Aishwarya’s next humanitarian assignment the couple was recently spotted having a family vacation in Vancouver.
