Robert Enke (Soccer)
Germany and Hannover 96 goalkeeper Robert Enke’s life came to a sudden end on 10th November 2009 when he committed apparent suicide at a level crossing when hit by an oncoming train in Neustadt am Rübenberge, aged 32. Enke started his career at the age of 18 and first came into the limelight while playing for Borussia Monchengladbach after which he played for clubs like Benfica, Barcelona and Fenerbahce. Enke’s career got a great boost once he returned to Germany with Hannover 96 where he stayed till his death. His impressive performances won him a national team cap and he was Germany’s first choice keeper in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers and would have manned the German goal in the World Cup next year.
