Sydney, January 5:
Heavy showers interrupted proceedings again even though Australia rode on Matthew Hayden's unbeaten 29th ton to consolidate their position against India on day four of the second cricket Test at the SCG on Saturday.

Australia were cruising merrily at 213 for two in 59.1 overs, when the heavens opened up, prompting players and umpires to scurry for covers.

The hosts by now have established a 144-run lead over India with eight wickets still in hand.

Hayden was batting on 104, along with Mike Hussey (52) who also seems good for a century.

Earlier, another bout of rains had forced the umpires to call an early tea.

Brief scores:

Australia: 463 and 213 for two in 59.1 overs (M Hayden 104 batting, M Hussey 52 batting, P Jaques 42)

India: 532.
