Melbourne, February 12:
Australia will host Bangladesh for a three-match ODI cricket series in August-September in Darwin as part of a project to promote the city as an international venue.

The series would be played at the Marrara stadium from August 31 to September 6, Cricket Australia (CA) said in a statement in Melbourne.

Apart from this, CA also announced a 3.1 million dollar five-year deal with Northern Territory Government to develop cricket in the region.

CA Chief Executive Officer James Sutherland said the government's investment will help attract international cricket and improve local facilities.

"Cricket Australia is committed to promoting Darwin on the international stage and also as an ideal training base for development squads in the 'off-season'," Sutherland said.

"The location and climate are ideal for matches during the Australian winter when playing cricket in the southern states is simply not considered," he added.
